Introducing the Scorpio Fork
31 October 2009 | by Yak
We are proud to introduce the new Scorpio fork. At first glance the Scorpio fork looks like every other normal heat-treated fork that is available today, but if you take a closer look you will find a big difference.
On other forks the dropouts are just simply welded onto the fork blades. The Scorpio dropout is slightly different. The dropout plus 15mm of the bottom part of the blade is a one-piece full investment casted piece. This casted piece is welded into the blade.
The Scorpio Dropout
The reason why we used an investment casted construction is to create a stronger, stiffer dropout and also to eliminate the need to weld a dropout onto the forkcap. This weld to normally subjected to a lot of stress. Besides this new feature, you don’t need to add a bearing runner to the crown. Like all wethepeople forks, you can just slide the integrated headset bearing onto the fork and you are ready to go. No annoying hammering and no stress when you want to change the bearings.
